What PVC Tarpaulin Is
Core Features:
- Waterproof and durable: Built for transport, industrial protection, construction use, and tougher outdoor applications.
- Polyester base fabric with PVC build options: Available in laminated, semi-coating, and knife-coating options depending on the application.
- Designed for real stress: Selection should account for abrasion, weather exposure, handling strain, and whether the material stays a roll or becomes a finished good.
Surface and Customization:
- Seamless width currently published up to 3.4 meters: Useful when a smoother finish and fewer seams matter.
- Custom size, color, gsm, and finish option: Material can be tuned to the application rather than sold as a one-size-fits-all tarp.
- Optional additives: Anti-UV, flame retardant, anti-mold, and anti-aging treatments depend on the job requirement.
- Finished-goods conversion support: The same material base can be routed into trailer tarps, truck side curtains, sound barriers, PVC curtain assemblies, and other converted products.

PVC Tarpaulin Selection Factors
Material weight is one decision, but the final fit depends on use environment, surface, operating temperature range, finishing method, and shipment format. SKP confirms the exact direction at quote based on the project.
Material weight
Choose by application, handling, exposure, and duty level. SKP recommends a gsm direction per project rather than asserting a universal range.
Stock option
500gsm is available as a ready-stock direction in standard colors — about 14.7 oz/yard^2, in 2.1 m and 3.0 m width directions.
Roll format
Common PVC tarpaulin roll widths include 1.5 m, 1.83 m, 2.0 m, 2.06 m, 2.1 m, 3.0 m, and 3.2 m.
Roll length
50 m (54.7 yd) is a common roll length where the selected material format supports it. Confirmed at quote per project.
Custom sizing
Roll material can be trimmed or fabricated to the requested size where suitable. Cut, hem, weld, and accessory work reviewed per project.
Finishing
Hemming, eyelets, heat welding, high-frequency sealing, logo printing, and custom accessories are reviewed for finished-goods orders.
Operating temperature
PVC tarpaulin typically performs in a broad outdoor range, with the exact tolerated range depending on build and surface treatment. Confirm the climate, exposure profile, and storage conditions at quote.
Surface treatment
Glossy or matte finish, printable surface, UV-stabilized topcoat, anti-mold treatment, or specialty topcoats can be reviewed based on the application and exposure.
Packaging
Roll packaging can use PE sheet outer cover, with crates or export-safe pallets where required. Finished goods use box, PE, or custom packing.

- ISO 1421 / DIN 53354 – Tensile Strength
Measures how much pulling force the material can withstand before breaking (warp and weft directions). - ISO 4674-1 / DIN 53363 – Tear Strength
Measures how resistant the material is to tearing once a cut or rip has started. - DIN 53357 – Adhesion (Peel Strength)
Measures how strongly the PVC coating is bonded to the fabric. Higher values mean better durability and less risk of delamination. - ASTM D5035 – Tensile Strength (US Standard)
U.S. equivalent to ISO tensile testing, commonly used for North American projects.
